ENDOSCOPIC ENUCLEATION OF THE PROSTATE WITH HOLMIUM LASER

Coming soon

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a very common condition that is part of the urologist's daily practice. The minimally invasive surgical treatment of BPH has come a long way in recent years with greater pathophysiological and anatomical knowledge of voiding dysfunction resulting from the process of prostatic enlargement. The advent and development of technologies, especially laser and bipolar technology.

The classes will be 100% face-to-face and will take place in Curitiba at Scolla and at the Mackenzie Evangelical University Hospital (HUEM).

Methodology

With a focus on training medical professionals to perform Anatomical Endoscopic Enucleation of the Prostate (AEEP) surgery, providing surgeons with continuing medical education, addressing the latest issues in their area of interest, training surgeons in the basics of Holep, and teaching techniques, principles and new technologies to enable students to face the current job market.

The theoretical and practical training will provide knowledge of the functioning and components of the technological platform to be used in surgery. With a limit of 10 students per class, divided into 2 classes of 5 students on the first day and 5 pairs for the activities in the operating room, all classroom training will involve the use of a simulation center with a realistic model and in the operating room, focusing on the usual operation and problem solving.

Surgical techniques will also be combined with the observation of surgical cases, giving the student experience as an assistant in procedures, as well as carrying out procedures in training and under supervision. All these steps will be monitored by a preceptor surgeon with extensive practical experience and consolidated knowledge in the technical area being trained.

The theoretical-practical course in Endoscopic Prostate Enucleation will take place over 3 days, with theoretical classes at Scolla's headquarters, followed by training on a realistic model on the first day. Training in the operating room will take place over 2 days at the Mackenzie Evangelical University Hospital (HUEM). Upon completion, the students will have access to the schedule of procedures and will be able, with prior notice, to follow the procedures "on site".
