4th Immersion in

THORACIC SURGERY
MINIMALLY INVASIVE

September 29th to October 5th, 2025

We are currently experiencing a notable expansion in minimally invasive procedures, especially laparoscopic surgeries, which have established themselves as the route of choice for most surgical interventions. Patients have preferred this type of approach because it offers greater safety and a faster, more comfortable post-operative period. There are even government projects aimed at implementing this technique in the public health system.

Aware of this scenario and the growing demand for qualified training, we, Dr. Mario Ghefter and Dr. Paulo Boscardim, together with David Medical and Scolla, have teamed up to create a short course, with a more immersive format, aimed at deepening minimally invasive approaches in the chest.

The 4th edition of the Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Immersion Course will bring together the main trends and innovations in the field, combining excellent content with extensive practical training, including live surgeries and online theoretical classes.

We will start the activities with virtual sessions over three evenings, where we will cover technical and practical aspects with the support of experienced surgeons who are committed to teaching.

We will have a special day dedicated to the transmission of minimally invasive procedures - by video surgery and robotic surgery - allowing students to experience, in real time, the challenges and conduct adopted in each technique.

And to finish on a high note, on the last two days of the course, we will hold practical sessions in Scolla's experimental surgical center, with training on highly developed models, such as heart-lung blocks with dyes and live models specially prepared for lung resection training.

It will be a unique opportunity to experience a new way of developing surgical skills: learning, teaching and sharing.

This course was designed especially for you, the thoracic surgeon - beginner or experienced - who is looking to improve in the world of minimally invasive surgery, gaining the confidence and mastery to exploit all the potential this technique has to offer.

Methodology

The course offers a combined approach between theory and practice, with the aim of providing participants with a complete knowledge of the functioning and components of the technological platform used in minimally invasive surgery.

The theoretical part will be conducted through live online classes, in which the main technical aspects and particularities of the different minimally invasive approaches to the chest will be discussed, with a focus on practical content applicable to the surgical routine.

The live surgeries will be broadcast directly from Scolla's partner hospital, allowing participants to follow procedures performed by video surgery and robotic surgery in real time, observing technical decisions, conduct and resources used.

The in-person hands-on stage will take place in Scolla's experimental surgical center, with practical simulations on specific models, such as heart-lung blocks with dyes and live models specially developed for training in lung resections.

The entire training process will be overseen by preceptor surgeons with extensive experience and technical expertise in the field, guaranteeing a guided, safe and highly qualified learning environment.

Participation in the course includes involvement in all phases: theoretical modules, case discussions, live surgeries and hands-on practical activities.
