Immersion in

THORACIC SURGERY
MINIMALLY INVASIVE

COMING SOON

There is currently a boom in minimally invasive procedures.

Laparoscopic surgeries are considered the route of choice for most surgical procedures. Patients opt for this type of procedure because it is less invasive, safer and quicker post-operatively. There are government projects to implement this technique in the public health sector.

With this in mind, we, Dr. Mario Ghefter and Dr. Paulo Boscardim, have teamed up to offer a short, more immersive course, where for three days we will discuss in virtual sessions the aspects and technical details of the different minimally invasive approaches in the chest, with experienced surgeons focused on teaching.

The 3rd Edition of the Immersion Course in Mini Invasive Thoracic Surgery presents the trends and novelties in this area, combining extensive practical training and immersion in live surgeries.

We will have a day set aside to share moments in the operating room of the Nossa Senhora das Graças Hospital of minimally invasive surgeries, whether by video surgery or even robotic surgery.

And to top it all off, we will have moments of great exchange of information, which will be offered during the last two days of classes in the SCOLLA laboratories, where students will train on models developed over the years, such as heart-lung blocks with dyes and on live models specially prepared for lung resection training.

You will have the opportunity to participate in a different form of surgical skills training, where you learn by teaching.

This course is designed for you, the young thoracic surgeon or not, who wants to improve in the field of minimally invasive surgery, gaining the confidence to continue exploring all the possibilities and advantages that the technique offers.

METHODOLOGY

The training is theoretical and practical in order to get to know the workings and components of the technological platform to be used in surgery.

All face-to-face training will involve the use of:

The online lectures will discuss the technical aspects and details of the different minimally invasive approaches to the chest

The live surgeries will take place at the Nossa Senhora das Graças Hospital, where minimally invasive surgeries will be presented, whether by video surgery or even robotic surgery;

Hands-on practical classes will be held on models such as heart-lung blocks with dyes and live models specially prepared for lung resection training.

All these steps will be overseen by a preceptor surgeon with extensive practical experience and consolidated knowledge in the technical area being trained.

Participation in the theoretical part (classes, case discussions and live surgeries)
